Welcome to BMCC

At Black Mountain Counseling Center we seek to be a community resource for mental health.  As a nonprofit, the Black Mountain Counseling Center provides mental health counseling without regard to clients’ ability to pay.

We believe mental wellness should be available to everyone.

Services are provided by licensed, experienced counselors working with children, adults, and families within Western North Carolina. The stated vision of the Board and Staff of Black Mountain Counseling Center is to continue providing affordable mental health counseling, wellness education, and advocacy to the community within a sustainable framework.

This goal of removing the financial barriers and making counseling more accessible to a wider population allows us to work to improve overall health.  This focus allows BMCC to look at both a treatment and prevention model to address the growing issues in mental health in our community.

We’re here to serve you.

BMCC has a clinical staff of ten licensed therapists all of whom have differing specialties and foci. All of the clinical staff have advanced graduate degrees and many have additional training in specialty areas. We have substance abuse specialists, trauma specialists, child and adolescent therapists, and couples’ therapists to name a few. The clinical licenses include Nationally Certified Mental Health Counselors (6), Licensed Social Workers (3), and a Doctor of Nurse Practitioner. We have a bilingual Spanish therapist and a bilingual German therapist. Clients have ranged in age from 2 years old to 89 years old and come with a multitude of mental health issues that have impacted their daily life and health.

We have offered group counseling in several areas. Parenting classes have been separately offered for parents of young children and parents of adolescents. BMCC Counselors have led groups at the local homeless shelter and with a housing program for homeless women and children. We have also led community programs with local churches and civic groups on a variety of topics. Examples include working with the Black Mountain Police Department to present two community forums on the Opioid crisis, a 4-part series on parenting skills in collaboration with the local Montessori school, and serving on a panel to discuss anxiety in children and adolescents with parents and youth from the community with a local church.

We are an institution that strives to provide quality counseling and promote positive mental health. The staff at Black Mountain Counseling Center decided to start a regular blog to provide mental health support and encouragement in our community. Watch for a monthly blog from our counselors with ideas and tips to promote positive and healthy mental health!
