Supporting Mental Health in McDowell County
The West McDowell Mental Health Hub offers resources and support for those looking for assistance with mental health. The hub is located at the Black Mountain Counseling Center office and is staffed by a therapist. To schedule an appointment, please call: 828-669-9798.
Adult Therapy
Adult individual and group therapy is offered by licensed professional therapists at scheduled times. The groups include a Family Support Group and a Thursday lunchtime Recovery Skills group. If you are interested in individual or group counseling, please call or come by our office during Hub hours to schedule an intake appointment.
Career Resources
Our Career Coach offers both individual and group services in the areas of employment exploration, online job searching, application or resume preparation, and other employment-related services.
Child / Adolescent Therapy
Our Child / Adolescent Therapist offers individual and group therapy. The weekly group focuses on increasing student success through goal work and healthy coping skills practice. The sessions include learning ways to handle conflicts with peers and family through role plays and games. Creating goals and monitoring success are also part of the group. Collaboration is ongoing with McDowell County Schools.
